Mactan Shrine

Mactan Shrine is located in the islands of Cebu which is, Lapu-Lapu City. This Shrine is known in the Philippines because it reminds the people of the battle which took place in Mactan and people to call it “Battle in Mactan”. This battle happened years ago when a Spaniard was trying to invade the place but Lapu-Lapu and his men defended the territory and killed the leader of the Spaniard named Ferdinand Magellan.

Every year, a reenactment is made in the city to honor the people who fought for the territory and remind the people currently living in the place about its history. The city is named after Lapu-Lapu who killed Magellan. Right now it is named the Historic Resort City of Lapu-Lapu City. This Shrine is well maintained and surrounded by fences because it is believed that it is where the battle of Mactan happened. Inside it is where you can also find the statue of Lapu-Lapu.

Constructed by the Spaniards way back in 1565 and is preserved up until now, Fort San Pedro is a place that everyone should visit. It is located in a Plaza called Plaza Independencia. It serves as a big reminder for every Cebuano to a revolution that happened years ago. Its walls are really high. Some of the cannons used by the Spaniards are still here. Sto. Nino

One of the oldest catholic relic in the Philippines. Most of the Cebuanos believed that this relic is miraculous. To honor its goodness to the people, they organized a religious festival every year named it Sinulog Festival. It is a colorful festival held every 3rd Sunday of January.
